The Second Career program provides support to laid-off employees in need who will benefit most from training to find work. Newly laid off workers need long-term skills training. This is the most helpful tool to help individuals transition into high-skill, high-demand occupations in the local employment market.

The Ontario government is providing a grant to help train up to 4,000 additional personal support workers (PSWs). This investment is part of the government’s Long-Term Care Staffing Plan and is yet another way the province is collaborating with key partners to improve the care and quality of life of people living in long-term care.
Eligible students may qualify for up to $13,690 to cover the costs of tuition, books and other mandatory fees, as well as a stipend for a clinical work placement.
To be eligible for financial support, students must start their PSW training between June 1 and September 30, 2022. Conditions apply.

Candidates must be permanent residents or Canadian citizens to qualify.
